Happy Holiday weekend! We hope you spend it with friends and family celebrating our wonderful nation. It is easy to take life for granted in America, so spend some time and reflect on how lucky we are to live in this beautiful country. Here on the First Coast there is a lot going in honor of the holiday weekend, and we chose a few fun things to check out!
#1 Grab a Bite
Eat dinner at the Jacksonville Landing and dance the night away as you wait for the 4th of July fireworks! From 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. bands will be playing, and the firework show starts at 9:45.
#2 Catch a Show
The first Friday of every month there is a killer block party on Centre Street in historic Fernandina Beach. Dance in the street this weekend and while you are at it grab a beer at the newest brewery on the First Coast at the Amelia Tavern.
#3 Weekend Warrior
This Saturday, check out this 1.5 mile guided walking tour of the Guana Peninsula. Dive into some serious history of America tracing back 5000 years. It is going to be a hot one, but since the walk starts at 8:30, it shouldn’t be too rough!
#4 Go Outside and Play
Go watch a good old fashioned ball game (as in turn of the century uniforms and gear) at the annual Throwback Baseball Game and Celebration in Klutho Park. Food Trucks and concessions will be onsite, so bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the festivities this 4th of July.
#5 Good Sports
Enjoy the beautiful canopied roads at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation this Saturday. Kids run starts at 9 a.m. and adult race at 8:00 a.m. When you are done, hit the beach to cool down!
