Visiting the Villa Zorayda is a treat year round, but in November and December, during the Nights of Lights Celebration in St. Augustine, the museum holds a special Holiday Candlelight Tours celebration. The museum is opened to the public at night to offer the rare experience of seeing the estate decorated throughout with 100 candles and a twelve-foot Christmas tree. Owners James and Marcia Byles give special small group tours, during which people are invited to ask questions.
The villa has Victorian decorations as well as the Christmas tree and an old-world Nativity scene. During the holiday season, the nights are “magical, and the Villa is absolutely stunning, with all of the decorations and beautiful Moorish and brass lamps,” owner/operator James says.
On some evenings, the museum offers refreshments. They have a special Christmas punch (the ingredients of which were kept secret) and also cookies and coffee for guests to enjoy as they learn about the rich history of Villa Zoryada.
James and Marcia Byles will finalize the dates for the Holiday Candlelight Tours later this year.
